The Burcham Hills Foundation is committed to enhancing the lives of our residents and staff by securing philanthropic resources that empower our mission to ensure Burcham Hills as the preferred Life Plan Community and retirement lifestyle option in the greater Lansing area. As a non-profit organization, Burcham Hills greatly appreciates the generosity of our residents, their families, friends and the greater Lansing community. The Burcham Hills Foundation’s mission is to provide financial and other charitable support exclusively for the benefit of the Burcham Hills community and its residents.

About the Foundation

The Burcham Hills Foundation was incorporated in April 1998.  The Foundation, a 501(c) (3), accepts tax-deductible contributions from corporations, businesses and individuals.  Our strategic focus is to attract the resources necessary to maintain the buildings, services and programming quality that have been a part of the retirement community from its inception.

Your gifts are the building blocks of the Foundation—and we thank you!

Planned Giving

Did you know there are creative ways to support the Burcham Hill Foundation? Ways in which the Burcham Hill Foundation, you and your loved ones all benefit at the same time?

Such giving techniques are called “planned gifts”, because with thoughtful planning, you create win-win solutions for you and the Burcham Hill Foundation.

Core Values of the Foundation

Attract the resources necessary to maintain the buildings, services and programing quality that have been a part of the retirement community since its inception.

Grow and maintain a Benevolent Care Fund for private residents who have exhausted the financial resources needed to live at Burcham Hills.

Develop and coordinate events, cultivate individual donors and raise funds for the Foundation.

Ways to Give

From art programs for our memory care patients, to the upkeep of our lovely gardens, to ensuring that all our residents can live out their lives in a secure, supportive environment, the need is great—and we can’t do it without you.

Donations may be made by cash, check or credit card.

Gifts of cash, by check or credit card, are the most common and easiest gifts to make. They are also tax deductible for the year in which the gift is made. Additionally, the Burcham Hills Foundation gratefully accepts pledged gifts which allow donors to make a multi-year pledge commitment with a specific payment schedule that best suits their wishes.

To make a gift by credit card, you may give now online at or call (517) 827-2924 to give your gift by phone.

Pledges and cash gifts made by check (payable to the Burcham Hills Foundation) should be mailed with a letter stating your gift’s purpose to:

Endowment Funds

The Burcham Hills Foundation has three endowment funds which are held and managed by the Capital Region Community Foundation. These funds provide a permanent resource for the Burcham Hills Foundation to support specific areas of need as outlined for each fund. Unlike other types of gifts, endowments use a percentage of the interest generated by the fund’s invested principal as spending toward specific programs, projects, etc.  As the fund’s principal grows through investment and continued receipt of charitable gifts, so does the annual income available for use. Below are descriptions of each endowment:

Burcham Hills General Fund

This is an “unrestricted” endowment fund offering support toward the sustainability of operating expenses, programs, services and other areas of greatest need for the entire Burcham Hills community.

The Lenna Keith Benevolent Care Fund

Introduced by former Burcham Hills Foundation Board member Ray Champion, the Benevolent Care Fund offers financial support for Burcham Hills residents who have found themselves negatively affected by the changes in their financial status, thus allowing them to live at Burcham Hills for a longer period of time. We strive to make sure that no one ever has to leave their Burcham Hills home due to a funding issue and through the Benevolent Care Fund, a resident could qualify to receive financial assistance thus allowing that person to live at Burcham Hills for a longer period of time.  Each year the Foundation assists several residents, but we would like to do more. Please help us grow our endowment fund and continue our commitment to enhance our residents’ sense of security.

Rev. /Dr. Isobel Blyth Center for Health & Rehabilitation Apartment Fund

The Burcham Hills Center for Health & Rehabilitation’s rehab training apartment simulates the challenges one may face upon return to their home. This homelike apartment is fully equipped with a bedroom, kitchen, dining area, living room and bathroom. This fund was established to help in the maintenance and upkeep of having state of the art equipment available for rehab and occupational therapies as they relate to the training apartment.

Additionally, the SAFE fund was created by the Burcham Hills Foundation for Burcham Hills employees. We realize on occasion employees may face their own hardships due to unforeseen circumstances that are not reasonably under his/her control. Limited to a maximum up to $500 per application (per 24 months). Grants are for catastrophic situations (e.g., house fires, severe automobile accidents, medical emergencies, etc.).
